A Day Like Today's 'ANTIGONE' by Priyankara Rathnayake

The great Greek tragic play writer Sophocles "ANTIGONE" go on the boards at the Lionel Wendt Theatre on Jan 27 at 3.30 & 7.00pm. "ADA VAGE DAVASAKA ANTIGONE" [A day like today's "antigone"] presented by Academic Players and drama and theatre & Image Arts unit,University of Kalaniya and directed by senior lecturer Priyankara Rathnayaka.

The play was based on the power struggle between the state & society.
Who is the hero? what is the justice ? what is the task of civilians and the task of the ruler? These are the some issues arose from the 'ANTIGONE '. This play was translated into Sinhala language by well known writer & poet Ariyawansa Ranaweera. Music is composed by Pramith Dahanayaka, Choreography created by Harshani Rathnayaka & Priyankara Rathnayaka.





The cast includes Wishvajith Gunasekara, Prasadini Athapathu, Priyantha Sirikumara, Thumindu Dodantenna, Kaushalya Mendis, Saman Malalasekara ,Vijitha Bandara, Thusitha laknath Gayan Randeera, Harshika Rathnayaka, Samadhi Laksiri and University Undergraduates. "ANTIGONE" is sponsored by Facilitating Local Initiatives for Conflict Transformation (FLICT) Organization.
