Short Drama Competition 2012 by ADIC in collaboration with the National Youth Services Council

The Grand Finale & Award ceremony of the ‘Short Drama Competition’, organized by ADIC in collaboration with the National Youth Services Council was successfully held on 20th December at Sri Sambuddhathwa Jayanthi Mandiraya under the patronage of Hon Minister of Youth Affairs and Skill Development Mr. Dullas Alahapperuma. Many recognized drama artists, celebrities, members representing various governmental and non-governmental organizations were present at the occasion.



 

Mr. Lalinka Herath’s “Call a Friend” representing Kandy district won the 1st place in Sinhala medium drama category. Mr. Ishara Wickramasing’s “Meken Try Karanna” representing Colombo district and Mr. Probodha Budhdhipriya’s “Rinai Dhanai Rina” representing Gampaha district won the 2nd and 3rd places respectively.







Ms. Nisanthini’s “Attaigal” representing Batticaloa district won the 1st place in the Tamil medium drama category and Mr. Thiruchchenthooran’s “Vellai Attaigal” representing Batticaloa district won the 2nd place. Mr. Premapriya Satkunalingam’s “Kannai” won the third place.


The winners in Tamil and Sinhala media were awarded Rs. 50,000/= each with valuable gift packs. The first and second runners up received Rs.30,000/= and Rs. 20,000/= including valuable gift packs respectively.
Mr.Pinsara Samarasekara won the Best Actor award in the Sinhala medium drama category for his role in “Meken try karanna” and Ms. “Geetha Rathnayaka” won the Best Actress award for her role in “Call a friend”. Mr. M.Suresh Perera of “Andana Hinawak” received the award for the Best Director and Mr. Sudarshana Krishantha of “Andana Hinawak” received the awards for Best Music & Best Script writer. Mr. K. Jeyaseelan won the Best Actor award in the Tamil medium drama category for his role in “Vellai Attaigal” and Ms. Reginamery Francis won the best actress award for her performance in “Attaigal”. Best Director Award was presented to Mr. Premapriya Satkunalingam for the drama “Kannadi” and Mr. P. Rahuman of “Vellai Attaigal” received the award for best music. Ms.Nishanthini Sellaiya received the award for best script writer for the drama “Attaigal”

 

All the individual performers were given cash prizes, gift packs and valuable certificates. ADIC and NYSC is all geared up to conduct the “3rd Short Drama Competition” in 2013 as we have received immense support and motivation in terms of positive comments and feed backs from guests, stage drama expertise and participants.
